Sunday Drive

It's been a little crazy around our household lately, so I haven't really even thought about posting.  But last Sunday we did take a nice little family outing to enjoy the tail end of the leaves.   We all piled in the car and headed off down the Colonial Parkway, which is every bit as charming as it sounds.

Destination: Yorktown.

20 miles of this!

I've been to Yorktown many times before, but I had never seen this home.  Right in the side there are cannon balls left over from the Revolutionary War.  So amazing!

Here's Kate clinging to one of the balls.

And nothin' like a big sis who will help you stick your face in front of a cannon.

The highlight?  The garden maze.  Off in the distance there are
two shrieking girls with a father in hot pursuit.

Once upon a time I think it was fashionable to take a Sunday drive.  If they're all as distracting and enjoyable as this one, I think we'll bring them back!

Oooooh, we were right there last August. We stopped on the way to Outer Banks and I fell in love with the place. I wish I would have known that you were there and we could have had an insider's help with what to do. Cute pictures as always! I love those windy wooded roads.

Oh! This kills me! How jealous I am. I used to run the parkway on Saturday mornings in the fall just for this view. I enjoyed it at the time, but how wonderful it looks now when I don't have any leaves changing! Thanks for the autumn colors.

We drove on that road when we were there this past summer! It looked a little different then - very green and lush but still totally gorgeous. The temperature looks a little different from when we were there too ;o) (Someday I hope to get over the tragedy of that heat we had to endure!)

so pretty! Now that it's economically not a waste of gas to take a sunday drive, I'm glad you took advantage of the $1 something prices! See you in ONE WEEK!! Can't wait to have some of your rolls! mmmm

Hey Nicole, I am drooling over the beautiful scenery that you have. We live in Vegas and can only dream of these kind of places. Thanks for capturing it for us. Your kids are beautiful and you sure take great pictures. Love the vivid colors.

That is incredible - those cannonballs from the revolutionary war. Insane!!! Where you live is so lush and pretty and green. And so full of history. I'm a little teeny bit jealous.
