This morning, as usual, I made a mental list of what needed to be done around the house: dishes, pick up toys, fold laundry, sweep kitchen floor, etc. And, as usual, I tried to find something to do to postpone the inevitable. I think cleaning is so much more more bearable if there's music on. So I thought, "It's Valentines Day. I'll make a playlist for today!" I opened up my trusty iTunes and typed in "love." The resulting playlist was surprisingly great. I must love love-songs. Who couldn't love Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Michael Buble, Van Morisson ("Crazy Love" is one of the best songs of all times, in my opinion), Diana Krall and of course...the Bee Gees? OK. I may be alone in that one. But my siblings will back me up!
A few pics from our Valentine's Party.

We did the shaved crayons between waxed paper thing and made these hearts. I hung them from the ceiling over our table with thread. Luke gave them "oohs" and "aahs".

Making sugar cookies.

Such cute pics Nicole. I just love Valentine's Day, it's just so....lovely ;o) And I like your BIG pics! Afton explained to me how to do that, so I need to give it a try. What would I do without all of my "photo-smart" friends? I would have really bad looking pictures, that's what!
Happy V-day. I too am the queen of distractions and putting off the not so exciting stuff of the day. I'd way rather be out taking pictures than doing the dishes. Drew suggested the other day that we hire a housekeeper. I was like, "did you really just say that?!!" Either he thinks I could really use some much deserved help around here or he trying to hint that I need to get my act in gear and keep up.
oh my hud! i started laughing when i read your blog because that is EXACTLY what i did this morning! i wanted some music to play during our Valentines breakfast and so i when to my "trusty" iTunes and typed in "love". and if it makes you feel any better there were definitely some Bee Gees in there!
Happy Love Day!!
I'm glad you found my blog. Your kids are cute. I noticed you homeschool. I admire that.
I saw your post about your four year old. I have a four year old girl too and agree with what you wrote. My daughter has a huge crush on a boy too! It is the funniest thing to me. Aren't they to young for that?
Happy <3 Day!
the first picture is amazing.
that activity looks fun...maybe next year. what's blum baby? i was just noticing.
May I please add Josh Groban? *thud*
Hi Nicole!! This is Tonya and Brynnley! She is here with us in the new office saying hello. I wanted to get your email address... can you send it to me?
tonya@hammondellis.com
LOVE YOU!

There is nothing like music to make cleaning more bearable. I wanted to do sugar cookies on V-day, but never got around to it. I still think I might whip some up tonight, even though it's three days late.
I really like the Bee Gees! Is that bad? Grew up with my parents' music, can't seem to stop liking it! You're absolutely right, music does help with the yucky housework. You can visit my blog at bsbunch.blogspot.com - My pictures are not pro like yours though!
Hi Nicole! This is Melissa (Hawkins) Henderson, you probably don't remember me but you trained me at Dr Hammond's before you moved. Anyway, I found your blog off of Diana's and I have to say, I love it! Your children are beautiful and your pics are fabulous. I need to know more on how you do the crayon heart thing. Those are super cool. If it would be alright, I would love to ask you some questions about law school for my husband. Do you mind emailing me at: melissahhenderson@gmail.com Sorry about the randomness of this post. Happy V Day!
You have so many fun ideas. When my kids are older I'm going to just scroll through all of your blogs for ideas of things to do with them. I love the hearts.
Nicole.....yes, I too battle major distractions when it comes time for work. Although I love this whole blogging thing, I must say that I have internal battles over my priorities some days. Glad you had a great V-Day! I just read your comment, and hmmmmm, I might have to take you up on your photoshop offer. Only problem is that my "computer" time usually happens between 11pm and 12 am each night. Seriously, I think I will make a list next time I get a chance to sit down and then I will start bombarding you with random questions. I will have to check on the whole chat thing, we use skype a lot right now (maybe the same thing?)
Also, I was looking through my old IFHS yearbook from our sophomore year last week and read your sweet entry. Its funny because you said something about wishing you had my hair! I may have to open it up and copy the whole thing for you in the future. The truth is, I would have killed for your hair and still would. Especially since mine hasn't grown back as of yet since our last addition to the fam.
Okay. Now I am going to stop.
