Yin 'n Yang

As I was picking up shoes littered around our entry-way for the umf-teenth time one day I looked down at Anna and Kate's flip flops.  It made me think about them and their individual personalities. They really couldn't be more different.

Anna's flip flops have flowers on them.  Kate's are camo.

Anna's favorite color is pink and Kate's is blue.

When Anna grows up she wants to be a princess.  Kate wants to be Yoda.

Anna likes her hair long, Kate likes hers short.

Anna will walk herself to time out when she's in trouble.  Kate will be dragged kicking and screaming.

When they play make believe Anna is Beauty.  And Kate?  She's The Beast.

They're Yin and Yang.  Flip and Flop.  And yet...two peas in a pod.  It works for them.  I guess one of the most wonderful things about being a mother is that I can love them equally for their individual personalities.  I love that Anna is girly and loves to sing and dance and have her hair just so, and is--for the most part--predictable.  I know what makes her tick.  And I love that Kate would choose a Star Wars coloring book over a Hello Kitty one any day of the week.  She'd rather wear a wool hat in the middle of summer than have her hair combed.  Where Anna is predictable, Kate is unconventional.

And I wouldn't change a thing about either of them.  Makes me wonder what will happen as Luke grows and stirs the pot a bit!

I Love the way you put your thoughts into words!
They do sound wonderfully opposite.
Hugs to all!

Don't you just love getting to know your little people! I while back, before I had Brans, I remember talking to you about having a 2nd baby. You told me how you cried before having Kate, because how could you love another baby as much as Anna. But you said you were amazed at how your heart could just expand and you could love another little one just as much. It didn't lessen your love for the first, it's like you just grow another heart especially for the that next child. You were so right! I was thinking about your words yesterday as I was holding Cason. My heart is SO full of love for these little people! All so different, but all so incredibly special. Aren't we soooooo blessed!

What a cute blog post! I think when I was their age I was more of a "Kate", but as I have gotten older, I am definitely turning into an "Anna". Those two girls are just adorable...love the pic too!

You are such a patient mom! How do you do it? I would have just gotten on to them and made them pick up their shoes. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids too, just not the messes they leave me! And it is true they are all different.

That is so great, that they are soo opposite, but such good friends. It reminds me of my sister, Natalie, and me. Soooo opposite, but best friends.

There is nothing better then siblings- so that you can love them each for their own personalities, and see how they mesh and love each other.

I love that.... yin and yang... That is a great analogy of two sisters that are totally opposite. They are so precious. And I know what you mean with the peas in a pod. Very sweet girls.

It's amazing how two girls within the same family can be so different! Isn't is great?
